Shame about the damage though. It definitely looks like it's been glued :/
What a shitty thing to do.
Thanks man. Yeah, really feel let down by them, especially as I work with one of their father in laws.
Dicks! Thats not on.
Unscrewed the MAF sensor today, there's a lot of glue around it :( it also rattles when you shake it, not sure whether it's supposed to or not. Was thinking to try and get the glue off and see what's going on underneath, but I've decided to refit it, drive it to work on Sunday when I'm back on shift, take it back off and Monday go round to see them and tell them to order me a new one, and it's on them.
If I get them to order this, it looks to be the right one, should I go with that, or tell them to get an OE one, if they can at all?
Get a second hand one? I'm sure they are on ebay#
So, a little update... They sourced a second hand one from the USA apparently, took a couple of weeks to arrive. Plugged it in, all good while engine was cold, but when warm would begin to play up. Ordered the new one on ebay, was completely different even though listed for the vehicle, sent them some pictures of what I needed, said that they could get it, then after a couple of days that they couldn't and to return it for a refund. Finally found a guy breaking an LS400 and got the MAF from that. Fitted, and now all working and running as it should.
Bonus is that the LS400 MAF came with an OE airbox, so I was going to fit that and do a BFI conversion rather than having the cone filter, but.... The ally pipe that was substituted before I got the car is way too long, so will have to get an OE intake pipe as well. But I'm just happy that the car is running as it should and not drinking double the fuel anymore.
Bit of a long overdue update. There is still a noise from the n/s/f, although every time I investigate and loosen and re tighten things it does get a little less. Although now a creak when turning and going down the road has appeared. Ive had the ball joints off, cleaned, greased, quietness for a day, then comes back. It goes away when you drive through a puddle, but I'm at a dead loss as to where it's coming from.
The car failed the mot on some rust, so it required some welding. They've actually done a stunning job, can't even tell it's had a section welded in. Only problem was that I had to remove the carpet as a precaution, and not had time to refit it, but I think I'll use the time it's outlaw an excuse to properly clean the carpet.
Also changed the front wings as they were rotten, and fitted my new head lights. Got new high beams, but they can wait for another day as the current ones still polish up ok.
Still not been able to get the exhaust made up, every time it seems like it might be possible something crops up. This year I was made redundant, and being out of work for a month meant any exhaust dreams went. Oh well, there's always next year.....
Also the n/s wing isn't mint and has a dent a bit of paint missing, but for the money I paid, I'm not complaining, plus it's already in the right colour.
